Facilitated Summer Visits of Special Needs Children
Date: June – August 2024
Organizing school tours for children with serious illnesses or autism can be challenging, as traditional venues like pet farms, amusement parks, and cinemas may overwhelm them due to sensory sensitivities and anxieties. While their peers look forward to school trips, these children often face daunting environments that feel inaccessible.
A visit to Dreamland provides an alternative tailored to their needs. With familiar faces, such as classmates, SNAs, and teachers, children can enjoy a fun, low-stress experience. Dreamland’s controlled setting, variety of play options, and sensory room offer a break from sensory overload, creating an inclusive and supportive environment.
This thoughtful approach ensures children in autism units can share in the excitement of school trips, fostering inclusion and understanding while providing them with meaningful experiences.
Back To The 80s Fundraising Night in Roscrea, Co. Tipperary
Date: May 2024
The Roscrea Friends Community, a group dedicated to organising charity events in the Midlands, successfully held its inaugural event, We’re Bringing Back The 80s, on May 10th, 2024, at The Central in Roscrea. The 80s-themed night was a huge hit, raising €10,000 in support of The Share A Dream Foundation.
John Brophy, Chairman of the Committee, expressed the significance of the event, saying, “This is for a great cause, which will make a big difference to the lives of many terminally ill children, children with disabilities, and their families.” A portion of the funds raised was used to provide exciting school tours for the Autism Units at Roscrea National Schools.
