JLS Dream for Leah

Leah was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia when she was only four and a half and such a happy little girl, looking forward to starting big school that year but it wasn't to be. It’s a day her mum will never forget as her whole world fell apart as her little girl was diagnosed with cancer.

Leah started her Chemotherapy and her treatment lasted 3years.  However, Leah also got Aspergillus in her left lung she was really ill for some weeks she couldn't eat or walk.  Leah went downhill very quickly eventually ending up on a life support in Intensive care.

Once out of intensive care Leah then had to have a left lobectomy done, which she had to go back into intensive care after.  After having the left lung removed Leah's diaphragm didn't work so she had to have more surgery to remove a hernia and bring her organs back down from her chest.

Leah is currently in remission and doing well. So, when her mum Geraldine wrote to Share a Dream to realise her one dream of meeting her idols JLS they immediately got to work.

Big thanks to JLS and all the Rose Festival Team for making this dream a reality for Leah.

Dream Concert creates hundreds of Smiles

Our Dream Concert in the RDS Concert Hall saw up to 500 special children and their families enjoy a fantastic day of fun and festivities.

The Army, Gardai, Air Corps, Fire Brigade, the Spinis and Emerald Garrison all put on fantastic displays for all the children - with their horses, jeeps, motor bikes, fire trucks and Star Wars figures.

Then at 2pm all the children received a goody bag full of treats for all the family and headed into the Dream Concert hosted by Spin FMs Nikki Hayes where artists took to the stage to entertain them all. Boybands - Taken, Stage One, Fresh Re, The Reverse, Wes Monroe, Girlbands - Rouges and GB13, Singers Ryan Dolan, Cian, Sara Lou all took time out to join the kids and show them a fantastic day out!

Huge thanks to all everyone for being part of this magical day out - the RDS, all the entertainers, the volunteers, Sponsors - Cuisine de France, Haribo and Cadet.

Thank You Hope Dream 10

A huge thank you to all the wonderful committee, volunteers and participants of the Hope Dream 10 Mile which took place on the 24th March 2013 in Enniscorthy and saw up to 1500 people take to the streets to raise funds for Hope and Share a Dream.

As a charity which receives no funding but relies solely on the goodwill and generosity of others we are extremely grateful to everyone who supported this event.

Rebecca’s dream of being a Rose of Tralee comes true

It was a dream come true for 12yr old Rebecca O’ Donovan from Cork when she spent the weekend in Tralee with the Roses of Tralee along with her parents Paul and Maria.

Rebecca was a happy go lucky healthy child until one day she suffered a stroke while out playing in the school yard.

Rebecca has been through her fair share of hospital visits, OT, Physio and psychology appointments, changing of medications and adjustment to a new life in a body that she has had to become accustomed to. However, despite all the challenges and obstacles Rebecca has had to overcome, she has come a long way and is gradually getting back to enjoying life.

Emmas Princess Dream Bedroom

A very special dream came true for 7yr old Emma from Ballylinan, Co. Laois. Emma has a very complicated medical history and suffers with many medical problems. Despite all that Emma has to deal with she is a very brave young girl and faces each day with sheer determination and never complains.

Emma is a real girlie girl all pink, purple, handbags and makeup etc. Emma had no room of her own as such even though her mum built one last year but all it had was Princess Bedroom a wooden floor. So when Emma’s mum wrote to the Share a dream Foundation to make her dream come true of a pink "girlie bedroom" somewhere she can escape away from all the reminders in her home of her condition they immediately got to work.
