It was a dream come true for 12yr old Rebecca O’ Donovan from Cork when she spent the weekend in Tralee with the Roses of Tralee along with her parents Paul and Maria.
Rebecca was a happy go lucky healthy child until one day she suffered a stroke while out playing in the school yard.
Rebecca has been through her fair share of hospital visits, OT, Physio and psychology appointments, changing of medications and adjustment to a new life in a body that she has had to become accustomed to. However, despite all the challenges and obstacles Rebecca has had to overcome, she has come a long way and is gradually getting back to enjoying life.
Rebecca spent a magical weekend in Tralee staying in the gorgeous Carlton Hotel with her parents being welcomed by the Mayor of Tralee. Rebecca visited shops all over Tralee who presented her with numerous gifts. After a bite of lunch and getting her hair done it was off to the Civic Reception at the new Wetlands centre, where Rebecca met all the Roses for photos. Then it was back to the hotel to get her make up done before getting ready to attend the Rose Ball in the Dome later that evening.
Rebecca got a huge welcome at the Ball when she was announced as one of the Roses and then danced the night away with all the Roses. Share a Dream would like to extend a huge thanks to all the Share a Dream Tralee committee and the Rose of Tralee committee and all the many businesses who helped make Rebecca’ dream a reality.
