Irish team don't forget Jake

15-year-old Jake Naughton from Wexford who has been fighting kidney failure for the last six years is one of the most courageous children you will ever meet according to the staff in temple street hospital.

He has had numerous operations and procedures and has to travel from Wexford to Temple St. Hospital Dublin (3hrs each way) four times a week for dialysis.  “Jake just sits patiently hooked up to a dialysis machine for 5-6 hours and always with a big smile on his face greeting everyone by name,” said Olive Kelly of Temple Street Hospital.

So when they contacted the Share a Dream Foundation to ask if they could recognise the courage of this young man by making his dream come true they immediately jumped in the Dream machine and off to Wexford to meet Jake.

Jake loves rugby and his dream was to hang out for a day with Johnny Sexton, Paul O’Connell, and all the Irish Rugby Team.

“When we explained who Jake was and all he has gone through Michael Kearney team manager agreed immediately to make Jakes dream a reality,” said Shay Kinsella Founder of Share a Dream.

Jake was meant to spend a day with the team prior to the England and Ireland game at Carton House but unfortunately Jake could not travel and was so disappointed that his dream would not happen.

But from the manager to all the squad to the back room team and the Share a Dream Foundation they all agreed that Jake should and would have his chance of some real happiness.

So on Tuesday the 10th of March the Share a Dream team and the Dream Machine travelled with Jake to Carton House to spend and memorable and magical day with the team training and enjoying lunch with his absolute heroes the Irish Rugby Team.

“It was amazing to see the team take time out of their busy schedule to make a dream come true for a truly wonderful brave young man who has suffered so much,” said Shay Kinsella.

“Thank you so much Share a Dream Foundation and all the Irish Rugby squad for making Jake’s dream come true. He never enjoyed something so special and will always hold this memory very close to his heart.
